Book a session

Every booking starts with a short questionnaire.

It takes about ten minutes, it's confidential, and it's read by the mediator personally. Nothing is booked until both parties' responses have been reviewed, and times are subject to availability.

1

You complete the questionnaire

On your own, online, in about ten minutes.

2

Both responses are reviewed

The other party completes their own questionnaire separately.

3

Booking opens if it suits

You'll get booking details for a time that works for both people.

About you
The other party

So we can invite them to complete their own questionnaire. The invitation says that you have requested mediation, asks them to fill in the form, and lets them know a non-contact mediation can be arranged if there is family violence or any concern.

Safety

In the last 12 months, has there been violence, threats, sexual assault or coercive control between you and the other party?

Coercive control includes patterns of monitoring, isolation, intimidation or control over money, movement or contact with others.

At any earlier time, has there been violence, threats, sexual assault or coercive control between you and the other party?

Is there a family violence restraining order, police involvement or a court matter on foot between you and the other party?

Do you have current concerns about the safety of a child?

Would you feel safe to negotiate freely with the other party in the same process?

Answer for how it would actually be on the day, not how you would like it to be.

Suitability

Is there anything that would affect either person's ability to take part fully — for example alcohol or other drug use, or an untreated health condition?

Does one person hold significantly more control over money, information or decisions than the other?

As far as you know, is the other party willing to take part?

Do you need documentation for a court application about parenting arrangements as an outcome of this process?

This service provides general mediation services and does not produce court documentation.

Before Court Mediation provides general mediation services. It is not legal advice, it is not Family Dispute Resolution, and no documentation for court applications about parenting arrangements is produced. It's a good idea to get independent legal advice about your own situation.
